I guess this is kind of the "What has happened since 2007" thread now, so I guess I'll go on and talk about a few things that have been going on here.
I graduated high school, finally. Went to community college for a bit (read: five years full and part time). Got my AA in music. Went to Rutgers New Brunswick as an English major with a concentration on Creative Writing and Education. Dropped out of school when paying for tuition, books, and rent became overwhelming. Started moving up the corporate ladder at my job and was promoted to shift manager. Almost got promoted to upper management and starting a career when a nasty turn of events required me to move back to my home area.
Right now, I work with the same company as a regular associate desperately trying to move back up the corporate ladder (with an asshole manager who does not like my upfront, blunt, honest style of working and reporting), working as a freelance music composer for local schools, volunteer instructor for a local high school's marching band, I play piano and trumpet and trombone in local theatre companies and high schools for their musical productions, and I do other miscellaneous projects. I recently have been contacted by a newly formed indie video game team to write the music for their new upcoming hybrid RPG/action-adventure game, so I'm looking forward to doing that (a 2D sprite game made in Unity). I also have been working with another upcoming team of people who want to create a JRPG in the Unreal engine, so I'm looking forward to that project as well.
In my spare time, I have been helping my girlfriend out in all her entrepreneurial endeavors. As for what I've done with her, I've done some copywriting for a web development company she just started up
(although I mainly only did stuff that had to do with applications and the hiring process and the like). We also have started up a geek-culture website and I'm currently lead article writer and lead editor, although the website is currently down for maintenance. We also have plans on working on a horror survival/RPG hybrid game in Multimedia Fusion as well as a platformer in Multimedia Fusion. The idea is to get a team that works well together before we take on doing a huge project with the Crytek CryENGINE.
Oh, and I both started a huge Fire Emblem fanfiction in 2007 that I'm STILL working on in my spare time. Currently at 135 chapters, over 660K words, 1200+ reviews, etc.
Outside of that, hoping to get my own house in the next two or three years (hated living in an apartment... too restrictive), hopefully can get a few guinea hens and chickens as pets, maybe get married, become a fully freelance worker and completely wean myself off from this crappy hourly-work deal, and truly become the embodiment of the arts that I have always dreamed and strived and sweat blood for.
